The NextGen mobile/portable drill which is high in torque (5.8Ncm), speed (40,000RPM) and comes with a brushless handpiece motor with low heat, low vibration and a quiet sound. It is quite literally competing to be the best mobile FHP drill out there.

Most low-quality nail drills have a low torque, so they will struggle to maintain speed and power, making them noisy with high vibration resulting in a nail drill having to work twice as hard.

What is Torque and Why is it Important?

Measured in Newton Centimetre (Ncm), torque is the power behind the speed that the drill uses to rotate, while in contact with a friction point.

RPM and torque need each other. The torque of a drill should be now lower that 2.6Ncm to avoid feeling any of the stopping that can happen on a less powerful device. The higher the torque, the more room the device has in terms of working without being maxed out.

A good quality nail drill should be able to maintain the same speed and rotational power, whether its spinning in the air or being used on a nail. Anyone using a low powered torque drill will find themselves applying more pressure or increasing the speed of their drill to compensate for the loss in power which can lead to excessive heat, damage to the nail plate and a quicker wear of drill bits.

Revolutions Per Minute (RPM)

RPM in drill terms is the speed of the drill bit when it is spinning in the handpiece.

The faster a drill can turn, the quicker it can rotate, so the friction against the surface results in quicker removal. Having higher RPM in a device means you will rarely be using it at its maximum rotation speed, so you will be putting your device under less pressure, less often. This will give it a longer life expectancy.

The Warnings - The NextGen drill has an intelligent warning system where the machine will display warnings on the display screen when damage can be caused, generally due to improper use.

E1: The handpiece is not plugged in when the machine is turned on;
Solution: Please check whether the handpiece is properly connected to the unit.
E2: Low battery alarm;
Solution: Please fully charge and restart.
E3: Stall protection, the displayed power is 75W and the maintenance time is 3 seconds;
Solution:
(1) Please check whether the nail drill bit is properly locked.
(2) Please check whether the nail drill bit is blocked by foreign objects or forced to stop due to strong resistance. Its important to maintain your drill handle piece with either a soft brush or can of compressed air to rid of dust and debris from the drill chuck. Dust caps on drill bits are recommended to prevent dust and debris entering the chuck. Never drop the handle piece as this can cause damage. Its important if you get E3 to eliminate the issue.
E4: Short circuit and this indicates that the handpiece has entered a deeper level of damage and will more than likely need replacing.
Solution: Order a new handle piece if the motor is damaged, or a spindle may be available to reduce costs.
